Vampire:The Requiem
Vampires: blood-drinking creatures of the night. Horrors born of
darkness, whose sole purpose in life, unlife actually, is to slake
their unholy thirst on the blood of the living. Without doubt,
vampires are monsters. Monsters, though, need not always be
unthinking, unfeeling terrors, empty of remorse, or even compassion or
other human traits. Indeed, vampires can exceed their deathless curse,
themselves becoming antiheroes or even heroes. Then again some
vampires truly are monsters.
Try though they might, the Kindred are not, and never can be, truly
part of mortal society. Regardless of their feelings, their wishes or
their intentions, vampires are always separate from those around them.
They are wolves among the sheep, and their very nature prevents them
from ever forgetting or ignoring the fact. No matter how much one of
the Kindred might love a mortal and wish to stay with them, the Blood
calls constantly. The beast threatens a frenzy that all too often
results in the violent death of those held dear.
Set in London in modern nights, the vampires are thriving in modern
London. A new domain had been forged, a new Prince is in control and
the government has been dissolved to make way for a new government
under the new ruler. But there is a problem, for over 1000 years,
every 250yrs the vampires of London are a culled, in the last great
cull only 5 survived; now it is happening again. No one knows why and
any Kindred who digs deeper is committing public suicide. No vampire
wants to talk about it, it's more the bad taste. It's fear, fear of
what's coming. But what is actually coming no one can say, because
they don't know. And that's the part that's so frightening for those
who would otherwise be Lords of the night.
